I’m in the market to buy my first GPS and want some help deciding which one to buy.
I would like to have free lifetime traffic updates.
And, speech recognition would be nice.
Also, having text to speech, bluetooth, FM receiver, MP3, multiple trip routing, where am I, lock with password.

I am trying to determine which GPS Navigation device is the best, most reliable and won’t break the bank.

How is it that civilians are offered GPS service at no cost? I understand that it is being provided by the government. Is it paid for by tax money which would allow the general public to have access to GPS service? Will it ever be privatized such that companies will start charging [...]

Is there any difference? I’m thinking about buying my step dad a Garmin StreetPilot® c320 GPS Receiver. Is this a regular gps system or not? I’m really not too familiar with these things so your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Recording multiple routes and the ability to view them on the GPS, or computer, would make it more useful. Recording each stop and the time stopped is also desirable. Is there such a device?

I’ve been looking at the HTC Touch Diamond and IPhone 3G and I noticed that IPhone 3G only has AGPS while Diamond has both.
I did a search and found out that AGPS is assisted by cellular towers and etc to pinpoint location more precisely.
I’m curious as to whether will using AGPS and GPS incur charges [...]
